When you go on trip, you take steps to keep your lake house safe. Well the people I was with and I followed those rules. The two of us had the lights and cable on timers, stopped our mail and paper delivery, and had someone looking in on the place once or twice per week. My fiance and I were two weeks into our many week trip, and halfway around the world, when our apartment sitter called and told us that someone had stolen our A/C. Mind you, the people I was with and I don’t have a window A/C either. The two of us have central heating and a/c. And someone had taken the outside component, the compressor, from our yard. I couldn’t guess it. They simply split all of the hoses leading into the house. Of course the apartment sitter filed a police report but there honestly wasn’t anything else to do. My fiance and I decided to stay and try to enjoy our trip and deal with the theft when the people I was with and I returned. Thankfully nothing else was taken and the people I was with and I don’t live in a bad village. I simply don’t think what possess people sometimes. Anyway, once the people I was with and I got back the people I was with and I had to call up our Heating, Ventilation and A/C supplier and get a whole new outside component to our Heating, Ventilation and A/C system. It cost quite a bit of currency too. Thankfully the Heating, Ventilation and A/C supplier was understanding and let us make payments. They also used special bolts to bolt down the compressor to the brick it rested on so that it is not so easy to steal. I think this is why corporations keep their A/Cs on their roof, so they are harder to walk off with.
