My house is positioned on the far end of town, and technically sits just outside the border of our county. Since I technically live “in the sticks”, my friends like to say that I live in the countryside. My house certainly does give off that vibe, too – it’s a larger plantation style house, with five acres of land surrounding it! The outside of the house certainly looks like a classic country home, though the inside will give a different vibe altogether. See, we live in a climate that is warm and humid for most of the year, so my air conditioning system has to be in prime condition practically all year long. Otherwise, I run the risk of the A/C system faltering when I need it the most! My house is equipped with a smart thermostat that can be controlled with an app on my phone, and that has proven to be invaluable for me. Not only can I set a scheduled run-time for the A/C system at the house, but I can also make adjustments to the temperature while I’m laying in my bed on the other side of the house. Plus, there are zone-control thermostats installed in several rooms of the house, and the smart thermostat can link up with those temperature controls and ensure that unoccupied rooms aren’t being treated. This smart thermostat setup is a phenomenal thing, let me tell you! Alongside a high-efficiency heat pump that can cool or heat the house with less energy than a forced air system, my home’s heating and air conditioning system works wonderfully to keep the house cool and comfortable regardless of the season. I do have this antique cast-iron stove in the house though, which I like to tell my guests is the main heat source for the house. The look on their face is always worth it!
