My family and I live about 15 miles away from the closest elementary school. In the morning, the kids have to ride the bus. The kids have to walk from our home to the bus stop which is quite a hike for their little feet. When the temperatures outside are extremely cold, we often drive the kids to the bus stop. The kids like to wait in the car because the heater keeps everyone’s feet warm. A couple of times, the bus has been more than 10 minutes late. That’s a long time for the kids to wait in the cold, icy weather. Luckily, the bus has a nice heating system. Recently, our kids have been complaining about riding the bus. They said the bus doesn’t have any heat. They have been begging us to drive them to school every morning. Since my wife and I have to work, we don’t have enough time to drive the kids to school every morning. It was getting hard to hear them complain every morning, so my wife and I decided to call the school. We asked if the bus was having heating problems, expecting the kids to be telling a story. That’s when we heard the awful truth. The school bus didn’t have any heat but they were trying to fix the problem this week. I asked the principle how they were keeping the kids warm on the school bus for the hour long drive. He had no real response, other than to say they were working on fixing the problem. I drove the kids to school that morning, and called the district superintendent.
