My partner & I thought it would be best to try our hardest to save up money for travelling this year. The two of us knew the two of us needed to figure out how to better control our utility bill. The drawback is, & also the issue with our saving, is that the two of us don’t have a ton of money to dedicate to this effort. This is why the two of us need to find ways to cut corners & save money wherever we can. Sure a smart thermostat sounds completely nice, however they’re unquestionably costly! And yes while it’s nice that they can control your electric blinds & a lot of others things, the two of us don’t have all of that. We don’t even have central a/c, just central heating that the two of us would love to use in a more responsible manner. So the two of us went to our local dwelling improvement store with the model number for our furnace & started shopping around for programmable thermostats. We were able to find one that could be programmed for a week of scheduling, plus it has a pretty nifty holiday mode, & it cost less than $30. We were definitely sold! The only trick is that setting these things up is not super easy… While a smart thermostat will easily learn from you, the affordable programmable thermostat needs to be entirely programmed. The long hours spent figuring out all the buttons & finally getting both of our schedules programmed into it was worth all of the frustration it actually took. We’ve only just gotten our first bill since getting the current thermostat, & already the utility bill is much lower than it was before.
