The Heating and Air Conditioning equipment in my home is 8 years old. When the warranty ran out after 5 years, my hubby and I started having an annual tune-up. Having an annual Heating and Air Conditioning tune-up is a good way to stay on top of big problems. Heating and Air Conditioning tune-ups are performed by a certified professional. During the Heating and Air Conditioning tune-up, all of your HVAC system components are evaluated. This includes all of the mechanical and electronic parts. During the Heating and Air Conditioning tune-up, the certified professional also checks your HVAC ducts, air filters, and air vents. The whole Heating and Air Conditioning appointment will take about an hour to complete. If there are any major issues, the Heating and Air Conditioning contractor can catch them while in the annual tune-up inspection. For example, last time we had our annual inspection, the Heating, and Air Conditioning contractor found our Freon levels to be low, but he added some Freon during the appointment. If I did not have that annual inspection, I would not have known the freon was low until the cooling system was not working right! Since the Heating and Air Conditioning contractor caught this early, we have saved ourselves a repair appointment later in the year. My hubby and I have our vehicle tested yearly, and our house appliances gain the same attention. I suppose proper yearly repair is important for many house appliances. The Heating and Air Conditioning equipment is expensive to update, however so is the refrigerator, washing machine, and computer. If my computer was making noises or running slowly, I would have it tested. If the family vehicle needed service, we would not wait days or weeks to do so. The same should be for the Heating and Air Conditioning plan as well.
