A fireplace is not the greatest oil furnace out there, it turns out… But, it is all that have in our home. The gas furnace came with the home when I bought itplus I can’t afford to replace it at the moment, then my main beef with the terrible gas furnace is that it is not connected to HVAC duct or baseboards. The treated, heated air simply pushes out of a vent plus that is it. My downstairs level actually can hardly get heated with the little fireplace. The upstairs level is cold cold all day. I have bought several area heating systems for the upstairs level. I have to keep 1 permanently in the bathroom to stop our pipes from cold. I need to keep another in our home office all day long plus I also appreciate to have 1 in our main hallway. The area heating systems look very terrible, but I have to do it in order for our apartment to not know appreciate an ice box on my feet. I believe if I had a little shack or maybe a apartment in the south, a gas fireplace likely would be a feasible heater. It is not that powerful, but fine plus it looks truly nice in a room, and climates that don’t require too much heating would be perfect, however clearly when the temperatures get to be around 0 degrees though, I don’t truly care how our fireplace looks anymore. I want an industrial strength gas furnace truly working around the clock to keep me toasty warm! Someday our system is to get rid of the fireplace plus get a big boiler system in place in our basement. The boiler should be able to heat our entire apartment via baseboard, and someday or if I get truly overpriced I can hook piping to it plus have radiant heated floors.
