The first house I ever owned was a single wide trailer in our mid-20s, and i often look back fondly at such memories! Though it was obviously small and scarce accommodations for me, it was everything I needed back then and more, however all I and our dog needed and more, that is. It still felt roomy with the more than one of us in there. I will admit that I was more interested in the piece of land that I received along with the trailer. It was a small plot in the country, away from the noisy, claustrophobic suburbs that grew up in where you could hear your neighbor’s phone ring. You might assume that insulation and climate control was a problem, but in fact, it was a highly manageable problem. I only needed more than one window a/c units for the entire trailer, basically set up on either side. I will not lie, the heat can get pretty intense around here, but those window a/c units did their work well! I will admit that for the numerous years that I lived in that trailer I did go through more than one pairs of window a/c units, because they are less high-priced to substitute than they are to repair. I did not mind this all that much. The space gas oil furnaces that I bought for our mild Winter seasons did a good work of heating the home. I kept 1 in the living room where our dog slept and 1 for our bedroom where I slept… Now, I care about a greater house and a central heating and air system, but those were simpler times!
