Anytime our girlfriend & I run our oil furnace it smells care about burnt hair; The smell is driving me deranged & I am desperate to service it, and at first I thought it was just a dirty gas furnace filter.
Then I tried vacuuming the inside of the oil furnace system! I then ordered professional air duct cleaning because I figured the dust must be in there, however nope, nothing has stopped that foul burnt hair smell, then right when the oil furnace clicks on, the house reeks of it, but either I adapt to the smell overtime or is dissipates after about an hour, however but, that first startup of the oil furnace is rough.
I don’t want to have business over in the Wintertide because it is so gross. I have burned candles, used air fresheners & opened windows. The smell can’t be vented out. I know I need to get professional heating service. I need a Heating & Air Conditioning professional to take the oil furnace apart & wipe every little corner in it. There must be hair & dust deep inside the system… Maybe the Heating & Air Conditioning professional can remove it & the smell will be gone. If that does not work, then I am resorting to an media air cleaner, then with an media air cleaner, the air quality is cleaned while the oil furnace works. It is said to remove dust & smells from the air quality, however so hopefully the smell of burnt hair will never offend our nostrils again as long as I use the air cleaner. Who knows though? With our luck the house will constantly smell a little gross.
