I have been overly stoked as soon as I rolled out of bed this afternoon.
This week is finally the fateful day that we get our new HVAC device installed.
The HVAC pros came out recently to double check everything and ripped out the old system. The expansive ductwork needed a bit of resealing and rehanging by a pro. The ducts weren’t entirely sagging everywhere and only needed a few to be repositioned. Strangely, I have always personally constantly tried to be cognizant of the ductworks. I try and even have them cleaned by professionals every few years. Now that’s all said and done, all that is left is for the HVAC pros to put in my totally replaced HVAC unit. Replacing the old HVAC device with a single that has a high efficiency SEER rating of 26 will absolutely have a great impact on the utility bill each month. This new heat pump also comes with a variable speed motor which I’ve heard also helps with efficiency. The variable speed motor cuts down on the amount wasted energy during HVAC start up. High speed is only necessary when the outdoor temps outside are scorching. The variable speed fan is called an electronically commutated motor or ECM, if you’re not in the know. These type motors are able to start and stop slowly which easily makes a sizable difference in energy usage. The coolest thing, I think, about the new heat pump is that it will heat my warm tub! Not only is the heat pump heating my hot tub for me. It’s doing 20 percent more efficiently that an electric heater. Yeah, maybe I am a bit too excited. I mean after all, it is just a heat pump.
