Nothing lasts forever, or so they say.

One day I hope to prove that adage wrong, and find something that does last forever, but that day is not today.

My family and I recently moved into a new house, and while it may not have been a brand new construction, it was recently enough to seem and feel new to us. Coming from an old, junky apartment, almost anything would have been like luxury, but this house was really great. Since it was so new, it passed all the inspections, from the roof all the way down to the foundation and the soil tests, so we were good to go! And then six months later the furnace stopped working, right in the coldest snap of the entire winter. I have had furnace trouble before, so this is nothing new, but this piece of equipment was less than 5 years old so it should not be breaking down! I called a local HVAc dealership and asked if they could take a look at it for me. They came out the next day, and in about five minutes determined there was a catastrophic system failure in the furnace. It had nothing to do with me or how we set the thermostat, this furnace was doomed to die quickly, and that is what happened. I didn’t want to shell out the big bucks for the new HVAC system so the dealer recommended I contact the manufacturer. All I had to do was threatened to go on social media saying their furnaces don’t last for even 5 years, and they agreed to work with me.
