We live in a very cold, dry environment – for that reason, warm and wet air quality can really improve how breathable the air can be for us.
My husband is quite the tinkerer. He grew up working on various heating and air conditioning systems with his father and uncles, who were all HVAC service technicians and contractors. He also worked as a certified HVAC technician for years, prior to starting and operating his own business. The nature of his business was, of course, heating and air conditioning system repair. Naturally, his skills and experience as an HVAC professional made it possible for our own home to be positively impacted by his skillset! To give an example, we recently renovated our heating system to include two new appliances. First, we have a hot water boiler system in the basement to provide warm and humid air. We live in a very cold, dry environment – for that reason, warm and wet air quality can really improve how breathable the air can be for us. Additionally, he and his fellow HVAC service technicians worked on installing a radiant heated flooring system for the house. This went through the entire first floor of the house, as well as portions of the second floor – namely the bathroom and our bedrooms. The purpose of the radiant heated floors was to provide heat from the ground up, as warmth would emanate from the floorboards and move up through the home. It was a great way to kill any cold spots or drafts in the house too, as the warm air fully covers every square foot of the house! I can’t recommend these two systems enough – we never have a “cold” night here anymore.
