She was constantly calling out the HVAC technician to take a look at our ventilation system.
My siblings and I always had a way with my mother. She was a big softy and had a big heart, and we could get away with murder sometimes. The area in which she really struggled was turning animals away from our home. And that was an issue, because we were always bringing little injured critters home. I don’t know what it was about my brothers and I, but it was like Doctor Doolittles growing up in our house. It seems like every time we walked outside we came back in with some broken animal. Eventually, our house was filled to the brim with cats, dogs, birds, bunnies, reptiles, fish… you name it, we had it. This was a lot of fun for us as children but I think that it drove my mom insane. Specifically I remember how much it affected our indoor air quality. That wasn’t a huge deal to us at the time because we mostly just cared about running around and playing. However, my mom was being driven up the wall by her dirty and stinky house. She was constantly calling out the HVAC technician to take a look at our ventilation system. She was convinced that there was animal dander trapped inside of the air ducts, spreading hair and dangerous particles throughout the entire house. She ran around our home like a nut trying to sweep and dust up all of the Airborne contaminants. The HVAC technicians would politely clean out our air ducts for her, time and time again, and hand her brand new air filters to use. Beyond that, for better air quality they said we should probably consider downsizing our personal Zoo.
