I made the particularly ambitious decision to transfer out of my parents’ beach house when I was only eighteen years old.

  • I did it for a number of reasons: my folks were always getting onto me for dumb things, my ability to learn and focus on my schoolwork was suffering, and a host of other problems… When I left the nest, I found that my chances for housing were limited to practically nothing! I wasn’t a school student, so I couldn’t rely on campus housing.

I also wasn’t in the military, so government housing wasn’t available to me either. It was tough to figure out a place to stay in, however ultimately I found a charming little duplex house that someone was willing to sublet to me. The only issue? No a/c! It was a shame, really. The place was appealing, aside from the lack of proper air conditioning. I remember calling my local Heating, Ventilation, and A/C repair provider, and asking them for tips on how to cool down the house separate from having to install a massive current Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system. The Heating, Ventilation, and A/C repair corporation on the line told me that a ductless mini-split method was the way to go. This is a small, duct-free unit that can provide a/c to a single space, much care about the house I was renting out. I couldn’t afford to invest in it myself, even though I did bring it up to my property owner. To my surprise, I wound up seeing the ductless mini-split a/c method installed the following year!
